English Learner
Upon enrollment in the Gasconade County R-I School District, parents/guardians indicate on enrollment forms if another language other than English is spoken in the home. If another language is spoken in the home, the student may be classified as an English Learner. The student will be screened to determine the level of English proficiency. Results from this testing will be used to determine what support the students will need to help us best meet their educational needs. See board policy IGBH.
Homeless/Foster Care
The Gasconade County R-I School District provides a school-based social worker for our students. This staff member serves as our homeless and foster liaison. She strives to accurately identify and locate all students that are experiencing homelessness (as defined by the McKinney-Vento Act). A homeless individual is one who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence. See board policy IGBCA.
